Seasiders head to the village for first time this century.

Emley welcome Whitby Town to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground for a Northern Premier League-Premier Division clash on Saturday (3pm).

It will be Whitby's first visit to Emley since August 1999 and a first meeting between the clubs since April 2005 when Emley was under the Wakefield-Emley banner, in all this will be the 18th meeting between the sides, our first meeting was an FA Trophy tie in 1981, we then had to wait 17 years before we met in the league.

Emley have won 8, Whitby have won 7 and there have been 2 draws, both ended 0-0, but that counts for very little on Saturday as both sides look for points to push us up the table, we are 13th and 14th respectively.

Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Bamber Bridge made it 3 wins out of 4 in the league for Emley and also meant successive home wins and clean sheets, Whitby have struggled somewhat recently, suffering back to back defeats against relegation threatened FC United and Stockton respectively, before those defeats, they had gone 3 without defeat following a big 6-2 loss at home to Gainsborough.

This game is our dedicated remembrance game and there will be a bugler playing a rendition of the The Last Post and a two-minutes silence before kick off. Please observe a dignified silence through both.

WHO ARE THEY?
Formed in 1926 as a result of a merger, Whitby United joined the Northern League and changed their name to Whitby Town in 1949. They left the Northern League as champions in 1997 and were promoted to the NPL D1, which they won in their only season, enabling promotion to the NPL Premier where they have remained to this day, a total of 29 seasons!

They have a rich history in the FA Cup, reaching the first round proper 9 times and the second round twice, the last time they made it past the qualifying stages, they were beaten 7-2 by Bristol Rovers 3 years ago, they had a remarkable game against Hull City in a replay in 1996, after drawing 0-0 at Scarborough, the rematch at Boothferry Park finished 8-4 in favour of Hull after extra time after Whitby led 4-3 heading into stoppage time!

That same season, 96-97 also saw Whitby win the FA Vase, beating North Ferriby Utd 3-0 at Wembley, they play at the Turnbull Ground in Whitby and are nicknamed 'Seasiders' or 'The Blues'.
