Emley AFC appoints Joanna Gray as 500 Club & Community Manager

Emley AFC is delighted to announce that long-serving club secretary Joanna Gray has been appointed to a newly created board-level position as 500 Club & Community Manager, as the club continues to strengthen its ties with supporters and the wider community.

Joanna, a familiar face and key figure at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, has worked tirelessly for several years to ensure the smooth operation of the club’s first-team football administration, governance, and providing support to football management as club Secretary.

In her revised role, Joanna will also lead the development of the 500 Club Emley’s popular members’ lottery and spearhead a range of community initiatives. The 500 Club has become a vital source of support for the club, raising funds for several key infrastructure projects at Emley.

The club also confirms that changes to the structure of the 500 Club will be announced soon, with exciting new plans to enhance the prizes on offer each month and to support the wider community.

Chairman Andrew Painten praised the appointment, saying: “Joanna has been instrumental in everything we’ve achieved in recent years. Her energy and dedication make her the perfect choice to lead this important part of our work. Supporters can look forward to seeing the 500 Club evolve under her guidance.”

With Joanna moving into her new role, Emley AFC are now advertising for a Head of Football Administration to take on the duties she previously managed around first-team football administration.

Joanna said: “It’s been an honour to serve as club secretary, and as the club has grown we have recognised a new role of Football Administrator is needed to support the overall secretarial work, which will then give me an opportunity to take on this new challenge. I’m passionate about growing the 500 Club and building even stronger links between the club and our community. We’ve got some great ideas in the pipeline.”

Importantly, Joanna will be directly involved in the recruitment process for her successor and will remain club secretary on an interim basis to oversee a smooth handover to ensure continuity and support the new appointee as they take the reins.

“I’m committed to making sure the transition is seamless and that my successor has all the support they need to thrive,” Joanna added.
