Bordman at the double as Emley hit Blackpool for four again!

AFC Blackpool must be sick of the sight of the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, and Rob Bordman, after conceding another 4 goals in another impressive Emley win, this time in the NWCFL Division 1 North.
Emley's 4-1 win came just a few weeks after the Mechanics were beaten 4-0 in the PlayerMatch.com cup, Emley striker Rob Bordman bagged a brace in each game, and no doubt, the men from the seaside will be glad to see the back of Emley and Bordman.
But the score doesn't necessarily reflect the game, as Blackpool battled well for most of it and, indeed, it was only in the latter stages of the second half that Emley's big win was sealed.
Just getting the game on was the first big victory, with much of the country engulfed in monsoon conditions and with entire league programmes wiped out, Emley's superb pitch was given the OK and it was game on.
Much of the first half was a case of "getting embroiled in a midfield battle" as both teams struggled with the rather damp conditions, but Emley were soon in the lead from one of their first meaningful attacks, left back Sam Gibson was played in to the left of the area and he found a neat finish to beat keeper Cameron, his first for the club and he rightly celebrated a good finish.
Just a minute or so later, Emley were awarded a free kick 20 yards out and it was no surprise to see Bordman step up and fire a free kick that had to be tipped over the bar by the keeper.
Emley were just about on top, but Blackpool had their moments, a nice run down the right and a ball flashed across the Emley box but thankfully it bypassed any Blackpool attackers, they came even closer a few minutes later as a curling shot missed George Clarke's right hand post by inches.
No further clear cut chances were created, but possesion was probably just in the visitors favour at the half time break
H/T 1-0
It took a while for the second half to get going, and Emley thought they'd doubled their lead when Dom Riordan headed home a free kick but a waving flag put paid to that notion, and as usually happens, the visitors hit back, but Emley will be kicking themselves, a ball in the area wasn't cleared and it fell to Duffield whos neat finish squared up at 1-1, but in fairness it was probably no more than Blackpool deserved for their efforts., they almost took the lead a couple of minutes later when a driven ball hit an Emley boot and flashed over the bar for a corner with Clarke only an onlooker.
Emley looked to come back strong and they did, Callum Charlton was starting to cause problems down the left wing, and it was his strong running that led to Emley restoring parity just past the hour mark.
Charlton's burst down the left and then his forceful run into the area had the Blackpool defence backtracking, Charlton found Bordman unmarked and he smashed the ball nonchalantly into the top corner from 10 yards out.
Emley were now back on top playing towards the Shed end and it was almost 3 but somehow a ricotched shot from Conor Glavin hit the post and bounced out missing almost everyone, but the Emley supporters wouldn't have long to wait to cheer again, Jimmy Eyles, inevitably, working hard for the team found himself clean through and he slotted a lovely finish into the bottom corner of Cameron's net.
Blackpool were still in it though, and Clarke had to be alert to push a cracking free kick out for a corner, credit to both the attacker and keeper for a brilliant bit of football, that seemed to deflate the visitors as Emley went on to wrap the points up.
Emley were looking to keep up their push for a top 4 place and they duly got it when Bordman added a fourth with 10 to go, and is often the case with Bordman it was sublime!
A nice ball was chipped in over the defence by Sub Finn Donovan and Bordman took a quick glance at the keeper and without breaking stride calmly lobbed the keeper, a lovely goal and roundly applauded by everyone, that was Bordman's 4th goal and Emley's 8th against the mechanics this month and the Emley striker wanted more, but this time a snap shot was dealt with by the keeper who pushed it round the post.
No more real chances crerated but the job had been done by the Pewits, who moved right into the promotion contending places, up to second with a rearranged game(again!) at Bacup to look forward to on Wednesday night- weather permitting.
But today was a good victory for the groundsmen for getting the game on and for a very good Emley performance which sees them now 7 games unbeaten.
