Emley look to make it 3 games unbeaten in the North West Counties Division 1 North when they travel to AFC Darwen on Wednesday evening (7.45pm), weather permitting!
After last week's game at Bacup Borough was waterlogged off again, Emley fans will be hoping for better luck weather wise as it's almost a month since they were on the road!
After Saturdays 1-1 draw with Cleator Moor Celtic and the previous weekend's 2-1 over Nelson, Emley manager Richard Tracey will be hoping to keep up the chase on the top 4 promotion places.
Darwen, though will be looking for points though to move themselves up the table and keep up their own decent run of form, which has seen them pick up 4 points and pull themselves away from the bottom 2 places, last week's 1-1 draw with Nelson, came after a 4-1 win over Garstang in the Lancashire cup, following on from 4 consecutive defeats, which saw manager Luke Evans leave the club.
Emley's biggest problem has been scoring goals, or not as the case may be, despite creating numerous chances, they have struggled to find the back of the net, as was cruelly demonstrated by last week's draw, when the Pewits should have really wrapped all 3 points up, and also by their last away game, which saw them squander plenty of chances, and a 2-0 lead at struggling Pilkington in a 3-2 loss.
That Pilkington defeat was Emley's second on the artificial 3G pitches that are allowed in this league, and Darwen will be hoping theirs works to their advantage, Emley will be hoping it's 3rd time lucky on "plastic"
