Grand national day disappointment for the Pewits

A last minute equaliser on Grand National Saturday meant AFC Emley fell at the last fence at Rossington Main.
Despite leading and looking comfortable for most of it, the Pewits were undone right at the end in an entertaining game that saw chances go begging to make it a comfortable win.
A game that kicked off in bright sunshine in South Yorkshire, Emley soon found their feet, Daniel Naidole firing an early warning shot but he smashed it just over the bar.
Emley had got a decent foothold in the game early and would take the lead a few minutes later with a beautiful goal, Right back Danny Stocker carried over halfway before feeding Naidole, whose quick fit and inch perfect cross field pass arced towards Ben Burnett, who watched it drop before blasting a superbly timed volley off the crossbar and into the net that had the Emley bench and supporters in raptures!
Rossington managed to get a foothold in the game but any attacks were well marshalled by the Emley defence, Burnett then had another sight at goal after good work by Patrick Sykes and Daniel Naidole, but his shot went wide.
The home side then had a decent chance, a ball played from the left and a good low shot was saved by the feet of George Clarke, another Rosso shot was blocked a few minutes later as the Emley rearguard held firm.
Paul Pyke had started to cause problems and his jinking run had the home defence all over the place, but he couldn't find the finish to match , a good tackle and it was cleared away, but a good half from the visitors.
H/T 0-1
Emley again started the brightest in the 2nd half and a couple of attacks had the defence on their toes again, but the keeper made a decent save from a corner to deny Emley a second.
Rossington then created a couple of chances themselves, but one went over and one went wide as the game started to open up, a foul outside the box led to a flare up, the referee reading the captains the riot act as tempers were frayed.
But then Emley did double their lead, a corner was awarded, despite Rossington claims for a goal kick and skipper James Stafford popped up to turn the ball home, and Emley were almost on the home straight!
It could have been 3 moments later as another foul just outside the area, and Stocker fizzed a free kick just wide.
Emley were looking comfortable, sub Shane Hamilton causing problems straight away, and found himself in some great positions, but the final ball wasn't quite there, another sub Arnold Ndiweni found himself with the ball at his feet inside the area, but his shot took a bobble, as Emley looked for a 3rd that would surely put them on the winners podium!
But.. as often happens, Rossington got a second wind, a couple of shots went wide of the target before one finally hit the spot, a neat strike by Fusco low to Clarke's left made it a nervy last few minutes for Emley, and as the game entered stoppage time Rossington found an equaliser, a pull back from the byline was turned in to the dismay of everyone of an Emley persuasion.
They still had chances to win it late on themselves, Naidole with a header off target, then Burnett played a smart ball into Hamilton who shot inches wide.
A draw would probably be a decent result in the end, but Emley will possibly feel a bit like Devon Loch after building up a decent lead only to fall down near the end.
