Home win for Emley

Ruben Jerome bagged himself a hat trick as AFC Emley came from behind to beat Swallownest 3-1 at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

Emley ended a 3 match unbeaten run and came from behind to win for the first time this season, in their first Saturday home game of the season.
Huddersfield Town Academy prospect Ben Mills made his debut after joining this week on a work experience scheme.

The home side started the better of the 2 sides, enjoying good spells of possession and looking to get an early lead, but found chances hard to come by, however it was the visitors from Rotherham who created the first meaningful chance and took the lead after 20 minutes, an overhead kick from Short beat Adam Ledger and Swallownest were 1-0 up.

Emley still tried to get back into the game though and were rewarded as Ruben Jerome's persistence finally paid off, a low shot to the keepers right ended up in the net and the game was all square at half time.

H/T 1-1
Emley were quickest out of the blocks in the 2nd half as Ruben Jerome bagged his second, 3 minutes after the break, a free kick from the right by Michael Tunnacliffe was flicked home by the head of Jerome into the top left corner and Emley had turned it around.

Chances were few and far between, but it was the visitors who had the next really good opportunity, following a break downfield, but Emley were relieved to see the ball strike the post.
Swallownest looked like taking the game to Emley for the next few minutes and were grateful for a fine save from Ledger to keep the lead intact.
The visitors missed another good chance but they fluffed their lines and again, Emley were relieved.
But after holding out, the Pewits finally made the game safe with 7 minutes to go, good pressure by Paul Pyke saw the ball break nicely for Ruben Jerome, who was one on one with the keeper and the striker made no mistake, sliding the ball past the keeper to wrap up the points, claim his hat trick and his 7th goal of the campaign.
There wasn't a lot between the teams really, but Emley's superior finishing paid off in the end.
