Emley returned from Cheshire with another point on the road after two stunning goals earned a thoroughly deserved point at Warrington Town in an evenly fought contest.

It's a result that means Emley have never lost to Warrington Town in what was the 5th meeting and had we been less profligate in front of goal, it could have been all 3 points! But another point and it maintains our unbeaten away record in the Northern Premier League-Premier Division.

With showers sweeping around Cantilever Park and a strong travelling support right behind them, Emley had the better of things in the first half and could be disappointed that the scores were level at the break as an early free kick for the hosts came to nothing and Emley pushed forward.

Sheppeard was enjoying lots of space on his right flank and he put in a good cross but the Warrington defender cleaned up, on the other side, Joe Stacey was also finding a bit of joy, earning a throw, he took it himself and again, Wire had to be on their mettle to get rid, Stacey was involved in Emley's next attack, his flashing shot flew wide and our next attack came down the right but the ball across didn't trouble the hosts.

After the game entered a lull for 10 minutes or so, it was Emley who woke things up, again, pushing forward, the Pewits forced Warrington into conceding corners and free kicks from both sides, but their defence looked like it was holding firm, the Yellows created a half chance of their own but the effort was wide.

And so, Emley, attacking the end in which many of their supporters were gathered, turned the pressure up on their hosts, more corners and throws were conceded by a desperate defence which was finally breached on 26 minutes, after a sustained period of pressure and from another set piece, the ball was worked to Aaron Haswell who blasted a beautiful curling shot past the despairing Warrington keeper to the delight of those travelling fans.

But the delight would be short lived! after another Emley chance came and went from Ejupi, Warrington had Emley retreating and Bottomley was forced to make a vital save, as he came flying off his line, he took man and ball, Warrington wanted a penalty but they got a corner instead, that corner wasn't sufficiently cleared and the hosts managed to turn it in through Bange.

A cruel blow for Emley who had been by far the better side so far but that's football, but the Pewits responded well, a flowing move found Hayden Lindley 20 yards out and his fierce shot beat the keeper all ends up but crashed back off the crossbar, Lindley did well to chase the rebound and win a corner, it didn't come to anything and another corner a few minutes later then found Gabby Johnson fired over the bar this time.

Emley were still pushing for a second though and another fine, sweeping move from right to left eventually found Stacey, he skinned his man and made headway into the area but as it appeared to open up for a shot, he instead laid it back to Johnson who was in heavy traffic inside the area and Gabby's shot was blocked for another corner.

From that corner, Warrington then broke downfield and almost caught Emley out, however, the execution let them down and saved Emley, Bottomley was able to make a save to deny them after they had fluffed a 2-on-1. Cowgill was then forced to turn the ball over his own crossbar as Warrington threatened another on the stroke of half time.

With the showers continuing at the start of the second half, it was the hosts who had the better start, but didn't really trouble the Pewits' defence, another attack then caused more problems, but Bottomley got a firm hand on the shot before gathering the loose ball from the onrushing attacker.

There was then two carbon copy attacks from Emley, Gabby Johnson broke through the ranks but both times, the defenders got back to force him away from goal and he couldn't get a decent shot on target. Bottomley was then called into action again as Warrington upped the ante, Emley eventually cleared for a throw.

A first change by Richard Tracey saw Laurence Sorhaindo replace Alex Kiwomya as both teams were really testing each other and trying to control possession but neither could hold it for long, another Warrington attack, down their left looked dangerous, as did the ball in but the attacker mistimed his jump and thankfully, the header was a weak one and off target.

Emley then created a decent chance of their own, Johnson and Sorhaindo creating space for another Haswell shot but this time he got his angles wrong and it was well off target, and just a minute later, Emley were punished for a defensive switch off, backing off the attacker who was able to run through, he squared to Bange who was virtually unmarked to tap home, cue the celebrations from the home faithful.

Emley responded with changes from the bench, Ejupi and Cowgill gave way to Thompson and Hanson respectively, Emley also appeared to change their shape and it worked! Within minutes we were level, from an unbelievable strike! After Bottomley came off his line to head away the danger, Emley pushed upfield.

Good, patient build up play saw the ball moved to the left, and although it appeared as if Warrington were about to clear, Laurence Sorhaindo stepped in to smashed a ferocious strike into the far corner of the net, an unstoppable, flying, equaliser which was cheered by the Emley support around Cantilever Park and left Warrington stunned! A superb strike to eventually win us a point and keep the unbeaten away record intact.

Another change for Emley saw James Murray replace Stacey and it was a nervy 5 minutes of additional time , right at the end, Sorhaindo, Thompson and Johnson all combined as Emley looked for a winner, but the hosts dealt with it as the ref ended an entertaining game in the Cheshire drizzle.

Unbeaten away, unbeaten against Warrington Town and we now look forward to a West Yorkshire derby at home to Guiseley on Monday.
