The Pewits got their Sheffield and Hallamshire Cup campaign underway as they put aside Brodsworth Main by six goals to nil.

The 2023 winners got off to a bright start in HD8, with the first opportunity falling to Coban Bird, forcing the keeper into an excellent save after some one touch football from the Pewits, it wouldn't be long before Emley would break the deadlock though.

Charlie Barks did well to recycle the play before finding Rodrigues, whose deft pass found GABRIEL JOHNSON, who poked home into the far corner just out of reach of the scrambling goalkeeper.

Emley’s strong start would continue, first, Kiwomya would test the Brodsworth keeper after intricate play in the Brodsworth box, forcing him into a good save, his parry fell back to Bird who would fire just over from close distance.

Bird in the thick of the action so far. He would find himself with two more excellent opportunities, firstly, he worked the ball onto his left foot before shooting narrowly wide past the post from a tight angle, his second opportunity was a bit of trickery from the Leeds loanee, turning his man inside out before his shot was deflected narrowly wide.

Carlos Rodrigues was next to try his luck, the ball was worked well out to the left-hand side, Carlos glided inside before hitting a wicked curling strike past the goalkeeper only to be denied by the crossbar. A rare shooting opportunity for Brodsworth was then well worked, before their shot from the edge of the box would fly narrowly wide of Bottomley's goal.

Emley would pick up where they left off and would finally find that elusive second goal. ALEX KIWOMYA picked the ball up on the edge of the before unleashing a teasing strike which would slip through the grasps of the Brodsworth goalkeeper, one he won't want to see again.

The bombardment on the Brodsworth goal continued. Again, Rodrigues was finding joy on the left-hand side, cutting inside, his shot would deflect as far as DIEGO DE GIROLAMO who smashed high into the Brodsworth goal.

Emley would make their first substitutions on the 61st minute, both strikers and goalscorers Gabriel Johnson and Diego De Girolamo would leave the field for Toby Stennett and Jacob Jessop. Shortly after these changes it would soon be number 4, a teasing corner from Ross Hardaker would meet an unmarked RINOR EJUPI to head home.

Another substitution for Emley this time replacing goalscorer Alex Kiwomya with Harry Sheppeard and the chances kept on coming, Ross Hardaker this time on the turn would rifle an acrobatic volley only for the keeper to make an excellent save to deny him.

And again, the Pewits pressure would continue, HARRY SHEPPEARD beat his man on the right flank before cutting in and curling into the top left-hand corner giving the goalkeeper no chance.

Within two minutes Emley would have number 6, the Pewits forced the ball out to RINOR EJUPI, he got half a yard on his man to rifle his shot into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Emley’s final substitution of the game saw Charlie Barks replaced by Joe Stacey. With the game coming to a close, there was still be time for another acrobatic attempt from Ross Hardaker, with visions of James Knowles' goal away at Pickering Town in 2024, Hardaker, from an overhead kick looked to have sent the ball into the top corner only to be denied by a clearance of the line by a Brodsworth defender.

With that, it brought the game to a close, Emley with a comfortable performance and one they will hope to gain confidence from going into Saturdays FA Trophy tie against Bootle.
