Villain to hero for Randall as Pewits progress.

Goalkeeper James Randall was Emley's eventual hero as we got through to the Sheffield and Hallamshire cup third round but only after being made to fight and scrap until the very end by a good Kinsley Boys side.

A strong Emley side trailed for most of the game against their determined hosts who play three leagues below Emley, a very late goal and a penalty shootout win was possibly harsh on them but that's sport sometimes.

The opening exchanges looked like it could be a comfortable night for the Pewits who were very much on the front foot, Jaanai Gordon had a decent chance but couldn't get his shot on target and Kieron Ceesay saw a shot saved as Emley put the pressure on.

Kinsley showed their attacking threat too but a ball that flashed across the goal didn't trouble Emley, Joe Clegg was next to try his luck for the Pewits but his low shot clipped the upright.

However, just two minutes later and Randall had a moment to forget as he hesitated after a ball was played behind the Emley backline and Randall was left stranded as the ball was lifted over him for the opening goal.

Emley continued to push and Kinsley continued to defend doggedly, numerous corners were cleared as the hosts stood their ground.

A Kinsley effort was deflected into the side netting as they looked to find a second goal against their higher ranked opponents.

A Manny Mampala shot was gathered by the keeper who then made an unorthodox clearance with his head after Farrar had headed goalwards.

It then went from bad to worse for Emley in the dying minutes of the first half, first, Ellis Farrar was replaced by Harry Sheppard following an injury and then Emley conceded a really sloppy penalty which was converted and unbelievably, the side from three leagues below us were two up at half time!

H/T- Kinsley Boys 2-0 Emley.

Again, Emley started the half on the front foot, but again, the home defence stood firm and dealt with a number of corners, Emley's first real chance of the half saw Baldwin flash a shot wide.

Archie Christie-Crainie came on for Belchior Rodrigues and he looked lively as usual, forcing the keeper into a save, before a big moment in the game as Kinsley were reduced to ten men just after the hour, now, a chance for Emley to get back in the game perhaps?

It certainly was, and just five minutes later Emley got a goal back, Charlie Barks poking home after a header came back off the post.

Sorhaindo then replaced Carlos Rodrigues as Emley shuffled the pack, unfortunately that didn't work out as Sorhaindo, following a clash with the keeper had to go off himself, replaced by Toby Stennett.

Emley pushed on looking for another as the ten men desperately held on, Hardaker saw an effort deflected and Kinsley were made to defend various throws and corners.

With time ticking down, it looked the shock of the season was happening, with 10 minutes of added time, Emley had a great chance but saw a Clegg effort cleared off the line before a desperate defensive action almost led to an own goal.

With time now well into the added on time, Emley had a throw on the right which was recycled and the ball in was met by Kieron Ceesay who coolly glanced the header past the keeper for a late, late equaliser!

There was almost time for Emley to snatch a winner but Cleggs header was saved and so we were into penalties!

The first 6 kicks all hit the target, Baldwin, Mampala and Ceesay finding the net for Emley, but then Randall saved Kinsley's fourth with his legs, Gordon put Emley 4-3 ahead and Randall's redemption was complete as he saved another down to his right to send Emley through and break Kinsley's hearts.
