Emley progressed into the second round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire senior cup after a 3-1 win at Harworth Colliery.
Despite being 3 levels below Emley in the Central Midlands Alliance, Harworth showed at times why they're unbeaten with a healthy goal difference and made life difficult for the Pewits.
Emley started well and asserted their dominance early on, forcing the hosts back deep, but couldn't find any penetrating attacks.
That is until the 8th minute, from a right wing corner the ball hit the right area and young full back Jackson Durham spun and planted the ball into the bottom corner for his first senior Emley goal.
Although Emley were dominant, once again, they lacked a cutting edge up front and squandered a few chances to add to the score.
Ceesay saw a shot blocked after good work by Chentouf down the right, and then Harworth broke, forcing Lambton to get down low to save a drilled ball across his goal.
Isaac Baldwin and Archie Christie-Crainie were finding plenty of space on Emley's left and putting in some good balls but again, no one in green was able to capitalise on them.
Harworth showed on occasions that they could break from deep but Emley kept them at bay and saw off successive corners.
At the other end, Christie-Crainie again teased the home defence but his ball in evaded everyone, he then saw a shot blocked, and the keeper then thwarted Ceesay as Emley took a slender lead into half time.
H/T- Harworth Colliery 0-1 Emley.
Emley came out strong in the second half and more or less put the game to bed with two goals inside the first few minutes of the half.
Christie-Crainie was again tormentor in chief, laying a nice ball across for Sonny Whittingham to drill home for 2-0, it was Whittingham's first senior Emley goal too.
Then, just two minutes later it was 3-0, Belchior Rodrigues saw a strong surge into the area ended by being pulled down and Manasse Mampala slammed home the spot kick.
Emley could relax a little bit now but were getting frustrated by some late, needless fouls by the hosts, who remained competitive throughout.
Indeed, they enjoyed their best spell of pressure following the third goal and claimed one back of their own, they had already rattled the bar with a long range screamer and the goal was their just reward.
Emley made changes, and used all their subs and kept pushing for a fourth goal, but three would be enough, a late rally saw chances for B.Rodrigues and Sorhaindo but Emley had done what they had to and progress into the second round of the county cup.
We now face a trip to Sheffield on Saturday as we face Hallam in a NPL D1 East clash.
