Lights out for Blackpool as Emley hit four!

Emley turned in one of their best performances of the season so far in beating AFC Blackpool 4-0 in the PlayerMatch.com cup at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.
Emley were well worth the win and it could have been even more in truth, but credit to AFC Blackpool for making it an entertaining game and they could have had a goal or two themselves but for George Clarke in the Emley nets.
The Pewits attacked the Warburton end in the first half, and attack they did, almost from the off, the home side were on the front foot, a deep cross was missed by the keeper and the ball rebounded off Bordman to safety, then Jimmy Eyles saw a low shot saved.
But it wasn't long until the opening goal and it went to that man Eyles, after good work by Bordman, Eyles dances around 2 Blackpool defenders like he was in the tower ballroom and slots past Cameron in the visiting goals, but unfortunately for the Emley striker, he then had to come off injured.
But that didn't deter the Pewits, and they were soon celebrating a 2nd goal, Bordman involved again, this time nicking the ball over the keeper for Jack Knight, who rolled the ball into the net at the second time of asking.
Bordman in the middle, Declan Dawson and Sam Gibson down the flanks, were tormenting the Blackpool defenders and it was Bordman again who showed great feet to beat the defender and put a lovely cross in but Tom Rose arriving from midfield couldn't quite keep it down.
Blackpool did manage an attempt on the Emley goal thouugh, from a free kick 20 yards out, Milligan sends the shot wide.
Emley then found a rhythm and played some brilliant stuff, a great move started on halfway when Callum Charlton weaved his way infield, a nice pass to Gibson who had come in from the left wing, his pass found right wing back Dawson cantering forward and the cross-shot was just wide, another good move involving Conor Glavin, Rose and Dawson, saw Bordman shoot wide, Callum Charlton should have done better after another good passage of play but shot straight at the keeper.
Declan Dawson was starting to frighten the wits out of the Blackpool left back with his charging runs forward, and he was at the end of another superb Emley move, Knight, after good work laid off to Glavin whos neat ball again found Dawson steaming down the right, he whipped in a glorious cross, that good that it evaded everyone.
Emley had a decent lead but knew they couldn't rest on it in the second half.
H/T 2-0
As so often happens with Emley, they tend to have moments of madness where they seem to lose concentration, and end up in a twist and losing or drawing games they really should have won comfortably. thankfully, this wasn't one of them.
Within a minute of the restart, towering centre back Andy McManus headed just over the bar, after more good work by Dawson on the right.
But Blackpool then had their best spell of the game, aided by the lively and superbly named Djay De La Cruz, (who certainly got a tune out of his team), and that's where Emley have usually slipped up, but this time they held firm, thanks to George Clarke and managed to see the game out in comfort, Clarke was called into action 3 times in a 10 minute spell that saw Blackpool at their best, a good move from right to left tore Emley open and Clarke's best save was from a point blank shot after Emley failed to clear their lines.
But they saw that period of pressure out and then put the game to bed, a quick counter attack saw Bordman cross to the back post, but Sam Gibson blazed his shot over the bar, another break a few minutes later did reap rewards though, Charlton, finally broke the offside trap and squared to Bordman who tapped home for a well deserved goal and it was just about game over at 3-0.
Emley then got into the groove again, and Dawson was a man on a mission, he was flying down the right with regular occurrence, like a racehorse on the gallops, and it was no surprise that a Blackpool left back finally lost his patience and scythed him down after another thunderous charge, early bath for the tortured number 3!
And it wasn't long before the Pewits wrapped the game up with a fourth goal, with the visiting defence in disarray, Jack Knight nipped in and took the ball into the area before playing in Bordman, with a neat little shuffle and a sidestep he beat the defence all ends up to roll the ball home in front of the jubilant shed end and AFC Blackpool's lights were finally out!
Emley were comfortable going into the last few minutes and it's not often we can say that! but still the efforts kept coming, Mustapha Coker 'illuminated' the crowd when he slammed a shot so hard from 20 yards that it would have broken the net, but unfortunately it went wide, Glavin tried his luck but was also off target, before Bordman tried a cheeky chip that just went over.
And so Emley are into the next round, where they will face Daisy Hill at home on 23rd November ,but perhaps more importantly, they put chances away and saw a game out for the second time in 4 days after seeing off Darwen in midweek, which makes in 4 games unbeaten.
The next game is another trip to St Helens, where they hope to come away with a better result than the last time they were there, a 3-2 defeat to Pilkington.
