We recently asked for your views on our club website and social media accounts

The feedback was overwhelmingly positive and many suggestions were given as ways to improve what you say we do really well already.

Below are some of the comments that cropped up more than once and I’ve added a note in response to say what we’re doing, will try to do and what we cannot do - and why.

If you'd like to have an informal and no-obligation chat about helping with anything mentioned, drop us a line to office@emleyafc.co.uk

More interviews / comments from management team
We’ve started doing this in the past week. We took a conscious decision not to do too many interview pieces early in the season to give management and players time to bed in.

Player profiles on the website
We have pen pics in the programme so we’ll be copying these across to the website in the interim and gradually adding to them with more expansive details as volunteer time allows.

Website design: mini-league table and twitter feed on home page
Both those features have been removed by Pitchero in their new website design. We’ve requested their return but we don’t hold out much hope of them making the change. Sorry, there’s nothing we can else we can do. If you want to see our tweets, without joining twitter or using an app, save this link here: https://twitter.com/Emley_AFC

Website design: less adverts
I know this isn’t the response you want to hear but it is a case of ‘it could be a lot worse’. We pay for a package (£20 per month) that reduces the amount of advertising. To remove completely costs £80 per month and we don’t want to commit that expenditure. https://www.pitchero.com/pricing
We recommend adding an AdBlocker to your browser which will do the job and cost both you and us nothing at all. Take a look here for one such example:https://www.getadblock.com

Twitter: more in-depth match commentary
We were planning to do this from the start of the season but volunteer holidays delayed this improvement until the Ashton Town game. The coverage in the last week is what we hope to provide week in, week out. One person did highlight the updates being inconsistent and that’s fair comment but it sometimes isn’t possible as volunteers are helping with other match day tasks or are away. (Sorry to the one person who wanted fewer updates… it looks like you were outvoted!)

More fan interaction between games
This does depend a little on fans starting/getting involved in conversations but we’ll endeavour to improve this. However, we’re sure you’ll support us when we say we won’t tolerate abuse - whether of players, coaches or volunteers.

Create an online radio station
A couple of people highlighted Athersley Rec’s radio service. We would only be able to get this off the ground if someone (or a small team) with the interest and skills to make it happen. Shout if this is you!

Video content/match highlights
This entirely depends on volunteer effort and we don’t have anyone regular who can or wants to do this. For now, this will remain very patchy but we’d love to get someone who can help us with this - as a volunteer. There are some people who charge for this but we don’t want to commit the money - or at least not on a regular basis.
