At Emley AFC we are proud to partner with so many businesses - both locally and further afield. The club appreciates the backing of its valued sponsors and with that we wanted to give them a huge thank-you.
Without their continued dedicated support we wouldn't be able to operate the club in the way we do. They are an integral part of our Emley family.
Safety & Risk Management, a well-known business and one with a fantastic reputation.
Speaking on behalf of the company Nick Tracey explained about the business, he said: “Safety & Risk Management is a local business based in Cleckheaton, although we work nationally and at times globally.
“We provide practical health and safety support to a variety of clients, small and medium sized businesses and major global organisations plus specialising in electrical safety and design risk management.”
Nick is passionate about Emley AFC and is delighted the business is part of the club, he said: “We have always supported local football clubs in the past from School FA teams (SVSFA) to local Sporting clubs Battyeford Sporting Club.
“It is essential that as a business we support local communities and Football being one of our passions, it is one of the ways we do this.
“We know running a football club at any level requires funding and support in other ways.
“It is essential that businesses who have the right talent within their teams help the club with advice and support on some of the trickier issues a club can face.
“As a result businesses can offer technical and professional advise which helps the club officials in their decision making.
"How did I become a sponsor? Well a shared surname with the manager helped. However in reality the contact was made with Tony Worthington and he helped me understand the culture and aspirations of the club.
“I was welcomed up to a game fed and watered (well a beer or two) and I witnessed the behind the scenes work of all on a matchday.
“It was an experience I enjoyed and continue to do so. That was the catalyst supporting a local club where the true spirit of football can be enjoyed by all in a friendly environment.
“Living in Mirfield I had a bias towards Huddersfield District football which resulted in Emley always being on my radar especially back in the Gerry Quinn days.
“I attended a few games back in the 70s if Town were playing away.
“However the FA Cup match against Rotherham in 1998 was a real memory. It was played at Oakwell as Emley were the home team and Barnsley offered the ground, we turned up to watch Richard Tracey make his FA Cup debut for the Millers and we were delighted with the favourable reaction he got from a section of Emley fans (all from Mirfield) as he took each Rotherham corner which was rewarding as opposed to the abuse thrown out at league games.
“I backed him at 10/1 to score the first goal and he missed a dead cert tap in.”
Moving forward Nick is excited for the future and to continue growing a great relationship with the club.
He commented: “There is no pressure on Richard or his coaching team here but, simply win the league and promotion this season.
“Every visit is a pleasure. The football has been good and the results have been brilliant. That fact along with the best pie, chips and peas this side of Denby Dale we can't go wrong.”
