Emley host Worksop Town in a Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Cup semi final at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Tuesday (7.45pm) in a match between the competition's last 2 winners.

It will be a tough test for Richard Tracey's high flying Pewits, as Workshop themselves are also flying high in second in the division above, although they are 20 points behind Macclesfield but like Emley, occupy the first play off place.

The game has bad memories for Emley, last season as defending champions, the Pewits lost their crown to The Tigers going down 10-0 to a very accomplished Worksop side who at the time were two leagues above Emley.

Both sides have a rich history in this cup, which is the 5th oldest knockout competition in world football, Worksop having lifted the trophy 14 times and Emley 9, the last 3 finals have been won by either Worksop or Emley.

Emley beat Maltby 2-0 in 2023 at Doncaster, the previous year, Worksop also beat Maltby Main at Doncaster by 3-0 and last season they thrashed Penistone Church 5-0 in the final at Hillsborough.

Emley ended a run of 3 games without a win or a goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Ashington to keep us second in the Northern Premier League Division One East while in the Premier Division, Worksop hammered Mickleover 6-0 to record a seventh straight win, so a massive task for the Pewits but one they'll be relishing.
