Emley travel to North Nottinghamshire on Tuesday evening to face National League North side Worksop Town in the 3rd round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior cup (7.45pm)
Worksop are the current holders, indeed, have won it for 3 of the last 4 seasons, Emley are the only other side to have won the county cup in the last 5 years, it's a fixture that both clubs are familiar with as this will be the third season in a row that we have met in this competition.
Emley will look to upset the odds at Sandy Lane, the last two meetings have seen Worksop come out winners by an aggregate of 12-0! Emley have been the favourites in each of their ties so far against lower league opposition and now it's our turn to be the plucky underdog!
Following the 3-0 win at the weekend, Emley sit 4th in the NPL Division One East while Worksop are 17th in National League North with only 1 win from their last 6 league games.
WHO ARE THEY?
They claim to have been founded in 1861, making them the fourth oldest club in the world but there is no evidence to support this and the club has been dissolved and reformed numerous times.
They played predominantly in the old Midland League until becoming a founder member of the Northern Premier League in 1968, they then rejoined the Midland League a year later and back to the NPL in 1974-75, thirty years later they joined the Conference North and a decade later were down in the NCEL, winning promotion back to the NPL in 2019-20, a further promotion followed last season to the NLN.
They have won the SHSC on 15 occasions, the most for any club, they reached the third round of the FA Cup in 1955-56 losing out to Swindon Town, they play at Sandy Lane and are nicknamed The Tigers.
