FA Vase semi final place up for grabs for grabs as we travel south.

FA VASE QUARTER FINAL:

It's another huge game for Emley as we travel to Worcester City in the quarter final of the FA Vase in a sold out game on Saturday (3pm).

It's a tie that pits possibly the 2 biggest clubs, the 2 favourites for the competition and 2 respective league leaders together and one which could have possibly sold out twice, as it is, the capacity at Worcester's Claine Lane ground is limited and only 210 Emley fans managed to get hold of tickets, that's still an impressive number and as always they will give the team their full backing.

It is the first ever meeting between Worcester City and Emley, although both clubs do have a rich FA Cup heritage, Emley going close to earning a draw at West Ham in 1998 after knocking out 2 football league clubs, but Worcester can add 2 FA Cup winners to their list of scalps, Coventry City in 2014 and unbelievably, Liverpool in 1959 on their way to the 4th round.

Many local fans may remember Worcester hosting Huddersfield Town at their old St George's Lane ground in 2005 which town won 1-0.

Emley are looking to make their 3rd appearance in a Vase semi final following 1987 and 1988 , where they lost to St Helens Town in 87, but beat Bashley a year later to reach Wembley where they lost to an extra time goal against Colne Dynamoes, Worcester's best effort in this competition was a 5th round defeat to Atherstone Town in 2020.

To get to this stage, both clubs have won 7 ties already and both clubs posting some impressive scoreline, in the previous round, Emley saw off previous winners Whickham in front of the biggest crowd at Emley since 1999, whilst Worcester hammered local rivals Stourport Swifts, 5-1 in front of 1,903, a record attendance for Stourport.

In their 7 games, Emley have scored 18 goals and conceded only 2, and haven't conceded in the previous 4 rounds.
Worcester, meanwhile have scored 24 including an 8-1 thumping of Bridgnorth in the first qualifying round, City have conceded 5.
