A trip up north to weight up the Anchors.

Emley are on on the road again this Saturday when we travel up the A1 to face Stockton Town in the Northern Premier League-Premier Division (3pm).

As with many of our opponents this season, it will a be first ever meeting between the sides and a first ever visit to Bishopton Road West, otherwise known as Map UK Stadium and with both teams at the bottom end of the table, three vital points are on offer.

Emley finally ended their run of defeats at FC United on Tuesday with a 1-1 draw and were unlucky not to win but are now looking for our first three-point haul since we visited Leek at the end of August, our dismal run of form had seen us lose our last 5 games, 6 if you include the abandoned half game against Bamber Bridge, so points have been hard to come by in the league!

Stockton were the opposite to Emley, whereas the Pewits started the campaign well, the Anchors struggled with only 1 win from their first 9 league outings, however, they have only lost twice in their last 6 and picked up wins over Bamber Bridge and a late win against Bury to move out of the bottom 4, which Emley now occupy, although they lost their last game away at Lancaster.

The Pewits will be be hoping the injured trio from Tuesday night, keeper Bottomley, captain Cowgill and frontman Johnson all make it and another good performance finally gives the patient travelling support a win to cheer!

WHO ARE THEY?
Founded in 1979 as a junior 5-aside team named Hartburn Juniors, they became an 11-aside team 2 years later but still as a junior team, but it wasn't until 2003 that they rebranded to Stockton Town, it was another 6 years before a senior men's team were formed and began life in the Wearside League, dominating the local scene.

In 2016, they turned semi-pro and joined Div 2 of the Northern League, again, dominating and becoming champions at their first attempt, it was the fifth season in a row that they had won their respective league, an FA Vase Wembley appearance followed in only their second season in the competition but they lost out to Thatcham Town.

Their rapid rise up the leagues continued in 2021 with a 4th promotion the NPL D1 East, following two runners-up places, they were promoted to NPL Premier in 2024, a rise of 5 levels since the men's team was formed and 4 since they turned semi-pro a decade ago.

They have never finished below 10th in any completed table since forming the men's senior team in 2009 and have only finished once below 7th, some going!
