Preview: North Ferriby (H)

Martin Eastwood10 Apr - 06:50

Penultimate home game as we look to secure a play off place.

Emley face North Ferriby on Saturday (3pm) as we look to book our place in the Northern Premier League Division One for the second season running.

A home win will ensure Emley can't be caught by Bradford (Park Avenue) who are the only side that can now budge the remaining contenders, but will also go a long to way setting Emley up for a home play off semi final, however, a defeat for BPA will confirm the Pewits' place in the top 5 again.

It won't be a given though, Emley's form, like last season has dropped off alarmingly, only one win from our last 7 has seen us lose out on second place to Matlock Town and we are now in a battle with Pontefract, Dunston and Bradford for 3rd place which will guarantee a home play off semi.

Monday's last gasp equaliser in the derby at Ossett means Emley have now picked up 3 points from the last 15 available and face a side in North Ferriby who are safely ensconced in mid table after their own play off chase was ended some weeks ago, but a dangerous side nonetheless with little pressure on them.

Ferriby have become something of a bogey side for Emley in recent years, The Villagers having beaten The Pewits on the last 4 out of the last 5 occasions, with Emley's last win coming in the abandoned Covid season in 2020.

North Ferriby are unbeaten in their last 5 games, picking up 9 points in that run, and have only lost 1 in 8 and earned a point in their Humber derby with Grimsby Borough on Monday.

WHO ARE THEY:
North Ferriby FC were formed in 2019 when the village's original club, North Ferriby United were liquidated, the previous club scaled great heights, reaching the National league and beating Wrexham at Wembley in the 2015 FA Trophy final, the new club which rose from the ashes started life in the NCEL Division 1 where their first 2 seasons were brought short due to the Covid pandemic.

In season 2022/23 they would be involved in a promotion tussle with Emley out of the NCEL Premier Division, alas, Ferriby were crowned league champions and Emley missed out altogether but would follow North Ferriby into the NPL as NCEL champions the following season
