Preview and matchday information for season opener as the Pewits head to Humberside

Let’s go!!

Emley’s season gets underway on Saturday when they travel to East Yorkshire to face North Ferriby in the opening match of their Northern Counties East League Premier Division campaign (3.00pm)

After finishing a creditable 9th in their first ever season at this level, Emley will hoping to push on this season, with many retained players and a few signings as well as some exciting young players who have been steadily coming through the clubs academy system over the last couple of years.

This will also be North Ferriby’s first season at this level after winning promotion from Division 1 last term, this will be their 4th season since forming in 2019 from the ashes of the dissolved North Ferriby Utd club which made it all the way to the National League and won the FA Trophy at Wembley before the club were liquidated due to financial issues.

The clubs have met previously though, in the curtailed 2020/21 season, a last minute Adam Haw goal saw a “tinpot and bang average” Emley snatch a 1-0 win, a season that ended with Emley being promoted on points per game basis after the Covid disrupted seasons, we never got the chance to complete the double over them that season.

WHO ARE THEY? North Ferriby FC were formed in 2019 after the old North Ferriby United were liquidated and they were admitted into the NCEL Division 1 for the 2019/20 season, they were 4th in the table when Covid put a hold on everything, the next season they finished 4th again as another season was ended prematurely due to Covid, in 2021/22 they finally managed promotion after finishing runners up to Hallam.

They haven't yet got past the Extra Preliminary rounds of the FA Cup, losing to Whitley Bay and Northallerton respectively, in the FA Vase, they reached the 4th round in 20/21 losing out to West Auckland Town.

Their manager is Chris Bolder who took the reigns in 2019, his older brother, former Hull, Derby, Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday player is also on the playing squad, they play at North Ferriby United’s old Grange Lane ground.
