Emley make the short journey to Cleckheaton to face Liversedge in the the Northern Premier League Division One East on Saturday (3pm).
In what will be the first 'Kirklees derby' of the season, the sides have met on only two occasions competitively this century, the game at Liversedge's Clayborn ground will be the first meeting of the clubs since a meeting in the NCEL league cup in 2015, before that, a 2011 FA Vase tie, the last league meeting between the sides was in the last season of the old Yorkshire League in 1982, both clubs were then founder members of the Northern Counties East League the following season.
There have been a couple of recent friendlies between the sides, Emley winning 1-0 last July and Sedge bettering that with a 6-1 win in 2022, Emley also won a behind closed doors run out in December 2020 but 3 league points are all that matter this weekend.
Liversedge FC were founded in 1910 and were members of the West Riding County League, until 1972, when they joined Emley in the Yorkshire League, following 4 decades as members of the NCEL, 'Sedge were promoted to the NPL in 2021-22.
Following Promotion to NPL D1 East, Liversedge then won a second successive promotion to the NPL Premier Division losing only once and winning the West Riding county cup along the way, but the results and form wouldn't last and despite reaching the county cup final again, were relegated back to NPLD1E after just one season where they remain.
Emley are currently 3rd in our first season at NPL level still unbeaten after 4 games with 3 wins and a draw while Liversedge are 16th with only 1 win, 2 draws and 3 defeats.
'Sedge's cup interests are also over following defeat to Silsden in the FA Cup extra preliminary round and Avro were victorious at Clayborn last week to end their FA Trophy campaign, Emley earned a home tie to fellow NPLD1E side Newton Aycliffe after seeing off Dunston last weekend.
