Emley make the trip to Ashby Avenue on Saturday for a crucial NPL Division One clash with Lincoln United as the promotion race enters into its final weeks, kick off is 3pm as we celebrate Non League Day for 2026.
It will be a first visit to Lincoln Utd for over 40 years for Emley, although the old club did venture there in 2004, Emley, of course have visited the Cities' other clubs since, the most famous being the FA Cup 2nd round clash at Lincoln City in 1997 as well as visits to Moorlands Railway in the NCEL days.
This is Emley's final game outside of West Yorkshire and with Redcar Athletic having clinched the league title, it's now down to the battle for the play offs and final promotion place, Emley currently lead the way in 2nd but have only picked up one win our last 4 games.
Lincoln, back at this level after winning the United Counties League last season, find themselves in 13th place, not quite safe from any relegation fears, but they have won 2 out of their last 3 and have a good home record, winning 5 and drawing 2 of their last 7 home games, including holding runaway champions Redcar to a goalless draw.
Emley won the corresponding fixture at The Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, Lincoln Utd have only beaten Emley once in the last 50 years, 2-0 NPL league cup win in November 1999.
WHO ARE THEY?
Formed in 1938 as Lincoln Amateurs, taking on their current name in 1954 and played in the local Lincolnshire leagues before promotion to the old Yorkshire League, where they would become regular opponents for Emley, both clubs were founder members of the NCEL in 1982 before joining the Central Midlands League as founder members in 1986.
It was during their CML days that they made it to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup in 1991/92, their run ended with a 7-0 thumping against Huddersfield Town at Leeds Road, they made the first round again in 97/98, this time bowing out to Walsall by 0-2.
They rejoined the NCEL in 1992 and then joined the United Counties League before earning promotion back to the NPL as UCL South champions last season, the previous season saw them reach the semi final of the FA Vase, losing out on penalties to eventual winners Romford.
