Preview: Kinsley Boys (A)

Martin Eastwood21 Oct 2025 - 09:30

Another away trip in the county cup for the Pewits.

Emley are on the road again this Wednesday when we travel the 15 or so miles to face Kinsley Boys (near Hemsworth) in the second round of the Sheffield and Hallamshire senior cup (7.45pm)

It will the first ever meeting of the sides and will once again pit the Pewits against a side from the Central Midlands Alliance Premier Division North, which is 3 levels below Emley in the Northern Premier League Division One East.

Emley travelled to Harworth Colliery in the previous round and came through a tough game against a team which were unbeaten in the league, Kinsley are the current leaders of that league with only one defeat and a goal difference of +44 and so another tough game can be expected.

The Pewits are 5th in the NPL D1 East table, following a 0-0 draw at Blyth Spartans on Saturday while Kinsley won 2-0 away at Teversal.

WHO ARE THEY?
Founded as Kinsley Village in 1962 as an under 18s side, they changed their name twice, to Kinsley Colts and then Kinsley Boys in 1986. They progressed as a senior side playing in various local leagues before winning promotion to the Central Midlands League in 2007–08 as champions of the Doncaster & District Senior League. After five seasons in the Central Midlands League, the club transferred to the Sheffield and Hallamshire County Senior League for the one season before rejoining the CML, they failed to complete the 2014-15 season and dropped back down to the local leagues.

They were back in the Sheffield and Hallamshire league for 3 seasons, 2 of which were the abandoned "covid seasons" they completed season 2021-22 before withdrawing again back to the local leagues, only to return once again to the CML where they won promotion from the first division last season.

The club participated in the FA Vase for the first time in 2011–12, reaching the first round proper in 2013–14 where they were beaten 7-0 by Glossop NE.

LAST TIME OUT:
Teversal 0-2 Kinsley Boys, CML PD N, Att- 74
