Promotion chasing Emley welcome Heaton Stannington to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday in the Northern Premier League Division One East (3pm).
Following 2 games on the road, Emley now look to keep our good home record intact, The Pewits are looking for a tenth straight home win, indeed, out of our 17 home games we have only lost 3 of those, all in the Autumn of 2025 and have kept a clean sheet in 11 of those games including our last 5 and only Ossett Utd have breached the Emley defence at the Welfare Ground in the last 9 games.
A last minute defeat at Bishop Auckland and a 2-0 win at Silsden on Tuesday saw Emley lose, then regain second place in the table, albeit having played 2 more than Matlock and Saturday's game gives Emley a chance to hopefully put another 3 points on the board.
Of course, much of Emley's solid defence was with Declan Lambton in goals, but with Lambton having been prised away by big spending Matlock Town, Emley now have to rebuild their defensive relationships with a new goalkeeper.
Heaton Stannington are currently 8th and just outside the play off places and will be looking to be one of those sides who can put a late season run together and get into the top 5, they won their last game 1-0 at home to Garforth Town following 2 straight defeats to Silsden and Redcar Athletic, their form has been mixed and they can't seem to get a good run to stick.
The sides have met twice already this season, both games having been played at Stan's Grounsell Park up in Newcastle, Emley won the league game 2-1 but lost out 2-0 in the FA Trophy, altogether, this is the 6th meeting between the teams, all of them coming since November 2023 with Emley winning 3, with 1 draw and Stan's only win was that aforementioned FA Trophy win in September.
