Emley welcome The Stan looking for vital league points

Emley are back in action in the Northern Premier League Division One East on Saturday (3pm) when Heaton Stannington are the visitors from Newcastle, as the promotion and play off race hots up.

Our match ball sponsor is Chadwick Lawrence.

Second placed Emley welcome 17th placed Heaton Stannington for a crucial clash at both ends of the NPL D1 East table, Emley's inactivity over the last week saw them concede top spot to Cleethorpes Town again, Emley went top with the 1-0 at Brighouse last week but we haven't played since and Cleethorpes have won their last 2 to overtake us.

Another home win on Saturday will put us right back into title contention but we are also right in the middle of a scrap for a play off place, our visitors, meanwhile are involved in a similar battle to stay up.

Heaton Stannington FC were formed in 1910 and played in various leagues before joining the Northern League in 1939-40, after the war, they left the NL and played in various local leagues before rejoining the Northern League in 2013-14 after winning the Northern Alliance, After winning promotion from NL 2 in 2021-22 they finished 8th and 3rd before promotion to the NPL last season, they play at Grounsell Park in the High Heaton area of Newcastle.

This will be the 3rd meeting of two sides promoted from step 5 last season, Emley winning the NCEL title and Heaton Stannington going up via a play off, with Emley winning both previous games by 1-0.

Emley are unbeaten in 9 in all competitions and won 7 of our last 8 league meetings with 5 of those being at home, the Stan, meanwhile have won their last 3, a remarkable turnaround, having won just 5 of their previous 28 league games to move them out of the relegation zone for now.

We look forward to welcoming Cumberworth Juniors as our match day mascots.
