A trip down the M1 for the Pewits as league action returns

Emley look to put last Saturday’s FA Cup disappointment behind them and are back in NCEL league action this weekend, when we make the journey to Sheffield to face Handsworth (3pm).

Last week’s 1-0 defeat at Glossop, in which the Pewits were undone by a set piece in the closing stages of a game, in which they were probably the better side showed how cruel the game can be at times, but they know they need to put that behind them now and kick on in the league.

They face a Handsworth side who are the complete opposite to Emley in the early part of the season, 3 straight wins and no goals conceded sees The Ambers holding joint top spot of the NCEL Premier division.

But Emley enjoyed a league double over their hosts last season, thumping the Ambers 7-0 at home and then seeing out a 1-0 win at Oliver’s mount, despite this, Handsworth finished one place above Emley on last year’s league ladder in 8th place.

Those 2 matches last year were the first time the sides had faced each other in competitive games, meaning Handsworth haven’t beaten, or scored against Emley, The Pewits will be hoping to keep it that way!
