Emley welcome Golcar United to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground from across Huddersfield for their first home league of the NCEL season on Tuesday (7.45pm).

After 3 successive away games which brought 2 losses and then a thumping 6-0 win at Handsworth on Saturday, Emley will be hoping to put one over on their rivals and give their home supporters something to cheer about.

This is Golcar’s first foray into the Northern Counties East League after being transferred from the North West Counties League last season, a season in which they won promotion via the play offs.

The sides have only met once competitively previously, although the results and records were expunged due to the covid pandemic, Golcar came out on top in that game, which was also played at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.

Despite this, the teams are familiar to each other having various players move between and play for both clubs and a couple of friendly games, one of which was played last month with Emley coming out 6-0 winners.

Emley are currently 9th in the fledgling league table with a win and a loss from their opening 2 games, while Golcar are 17th with 1 draw and 2 losses from their opening 3 games, both sides were knocked out of the FA Cup at the extra preliminary stage.
