We welcome the champions for our final home game of the season

Emley play their final home game of the 2021/22 season on Saturday( 3pm) , and perhaps fittingly it’s the champions Grimsby Borough who are the Pewits’ final visitors in the first ever season at this level.

There’s still an away game at Bottesford to go next Wednesday before the curtain comes down on a season which has it had it’s ups and downs, and then some, but Emley will be hoping to secure another win to cement a top half finish, something that seemed highly unlikely just a couple of months ago before a great run of form took us to halfway and within sight of the top 6.

With only 2 defeats from the last 11 games, it’s great credit to the management and players for turning the season around, and for the loyal fans who have followed the team across the North and East Midlands, the reward for all of those will be after the game when the presentation and awards evening will be held in the sports bar.

But first, we welcome the newly crowned champions, The Wilderness boys secured the title 2 weeks ago and are currently 11 points clear of second placed Eccleshill and with a League cup semi final to look forward to too.

The champions are currently on a 10-game unbeaten streak and have only lost 2 out of their last 20 games, and only 4 all season, whilst notching over 100 goals, 4 players have hit double figures so the goals have been shared around a bit so it’s fair to say they’re deserved title winners.

Emley were slightly unfortunate to lose on the Lincolnshire coast in November, and they will hoping to claim all 3 points on Saturday.

The teams have met quite regularly over the years, with Emley enjoying some colossal victories in years gone by but haven’t won any of the last 5 meetings.
