The Fantastic Media Welfare Ground will host an FA Trophy tie for the first time in 22 years on Friday when Dunston visit for a 1st qualifying round tie (7.45pm)

It will be the 3rd meeting of the sides, the previous 2 games were both in the FA Vase in 1989 and 2010 with a 4-1 win at Emley followed by a 0-4 defeat at Dunston.

Dunston UTS, founded in 1975 as Whickham Sports and previously known as Dunston Federation Brewery due to sponsorships are in the same league as Emley, having won promotion to the NPL after winning the Northern League in 2019 having previously competed in the Northern Amateur, Northern Combination and Wearside leagues.

Like many former Northern League clubs they were FA Vase winners in 2011-12 defeating yet another Northern League side, West Auckland Town in the final at Wembley, they also reached the FA Cup 4th qualifying round on 2 occasions, 2004 and 2019 and also the 3rd qualifying round of the trophy on 2 occasions and are nicknamed "The Fed".

Emley's unbeaten start to the season was ended on the 7th outing on Saturday in the FA Cup at Morpeth, whilst Dunston travelled the short distance to Birtley Town to register a 5-1 win also in the FA Cup to Maintain their own unbeaten start.

Both sides have identical league records, but Emley are one place higher on the NPL D1 East table due to having scored more goals, the records suggest it could be a close game and Emley will be hoping that their home support will see them through on the night.
