Emley face another trek up the A1 as we head north again to face Consett in the Northern Premier League Division One East on Saturday (3pm).
It's an 8th trip to the North East this season for the 3rd placed Pewits against their opponents who are currently 10th in the table, Emley have dropped to 3rd following 4 points from the last 9 available and Matlock's run of 4 wins out of 5 with leaders Redcar pulling away at the top.
Consett are one of a host of clubs in mid table ready to make a play off push towards the back end of the season and they are unbeaten in their last 8 and are only second in the form table to Redcar and above Matlock, Emley won't have it easy if we are to repeat our previous only visit to Belle Vue last year when three late goals gave us a 4-0 win.
Emley did the double over The Steelmen last season, our first ever meetings, a 2-1 win at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground saw us qualify for the play offs in our first season at this level in 25 years, the sides played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at Emley in September.
WHO ARE THEY?
Consett AFC, nicknamed 'The Steelmen' were founded in 1899 and have a rich history, they were founder members of the North East league in 1922 and also played in the Midlands, Northern Counties and Northern leagues until promotion to the NPL 2 years ago, securing 3 mid table finishes so far, they actually applied to join the football league in 1946-47.
They have reached the first round proper of the FA Cup twice, in 1958-59 losing to Doncaster Rovers then in 1996-97 losing out to Mansfield Town, they were also FA Vase runners-up in 2019-20, losing 3-2 to fellow North Easterners Hebburn Town at Wembley.
They play at Belle Vue Stadium in the County Durham town, the ground, opened in 2013 and replaced their old ground which was called Belle Vue Park.
