Preview: Brighouse Town (H)

Martin Eastwood29 Jan - 19:00

Another derby day at the Welfare Ground.

Emley welcome Brighouse Town to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground for the latest West Yorkshire derby clash in the Northern Premier League Division One East (3pm).

It will be a 9th derby this season, it would have been the 10th but for the rearranged game at Silsden on Tuesday postponed for a second time following the bad weather.

Emley will be looking for another league double over our neighbours, following a tight 1-0 win at St Giles Road in October, Emley have won all 3 previous games since our promotion back to the NPL against Brighouse, this will be the 10th meeting in all between the sides, Emley have 6 wins, Brighouse have 3 and 1 draw.

Brighouse once again find themselves in a relegation battle, but it's all very tight at the bottom with just 12 points separating the bottom 12 teams, so they will be very keen to get the points and also a goal, Town have only scored once in the last 3 meetings.

Emley, once again are competing at the top end and are currently 3rd and sitting nicely in a play off place but are currently 13 points behind leaders Redcar Athletic.

Brighouse are currently 10 games without a win following consecutive wins over Hallam, Pontefract and Blyth Spartans in October/November, Emley have only lost twice in our last 12 games.

WHO ARE THEY?
Brighouse Town were formed in 1963 as a works team, playing the Huddersfield Works League, winning it numerous times between 1966 and 1975 before joining the West Riding league in 1975, they were renamed Brighouse Town in 1988 and were successful in the West Riding league and cups in the 90's and early 00's, eventually joining the NCEL in 2008, winning promotion to the Premier Division in their second season, they remained in NCEL Premier until promotion to the NPL was secured in 2014.

Since promotion, they have established themselves as a solid NPL D1 team, although the last two seasons have seen them finish in the relegation places only to receive end of season reprieves.

They are nicknamed "town" and play at St Giles Road in the Hove Edge area of the town which has a capacity of 1,000.
