AFC Emley, Host Ollerton Town on Saturday(3pm), in the somewhat unfamiliar surroundings of their Fantastic Media Welfare Ground home!
It was November 17th the last time Joe Howson's men got to play on their home pitch, since then, 4 away games and a postponement of their scheduled home game with Nostell because of a frozen pitch, has meant that the Welfare ground regulars have had to go on the road to cheer their team, but on Saturday, (weather permitting!) the home faithful can finally welcome them back.
It hasn't been a particularly good spell away from home for Emley, picking up just one point, ironically, away to the 3rd placed team Grimsby Borough, while defeats at Dronfield, Skegness and Parkgate last Saturday has seen the Pewits drop to 15th in the Northern Counties East Division 1, albeit with games in hand, so they really need to start converting some of the good chances they've been creating and shore up the defence, this was very much evident at Parkgate, where, despite taking a 2-1 lead early in the 2nd half, numerous chances were spurned in both halves and Emley's defensive frailties led to them conceding 3 goals in the space of 7 minutes to lose 4-2.
Their visitors, from Sherwood forest, will be hoping for points themselves, as they currently sit below the Pewits in 18th, although they've had fairly good results recently, drawing at Glasshoughton and winning, impressively, 4-2 at Grimsby Borough
Emley will be hoping they leave their shooting boots back at home and they can pick up 3 vital points!
