New first team manager Joe Howson's pre-season plans are well underway.

Today the club announces our pre-season schedule - including a visit from the World's oldest football club.

Unfortunately, Huddersfield Town tell us they are currently unable send any team to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground this summer but in their place we are delighted to be able welcome an academy side from Barnsley FC to Emley.

Full friendly fixture list:

‪Wednesday 12th July Hall Green United (a) KO 7.00pm‬
Tuesday 18th July Shelley (a) ‪7.30pm‬
Friday 21st July ‪Barnsley FC U18 (h)‬
Tuesday 25th July Sheffield FC (h)
Friday 28th July Carlton Athletic (h)
Monday 31st July Penistone Church (h)

Games kick off at 7.45pm unless otherwise stated.

The first competitive fixture of the new season will be an FA Cup Extra Preliminary round tie on the weekend of August 5th & 6th. The draw is expected in early July as are the early rounds of the FA Vase. The NCEL League Cup draw will be made at the league AGM in Scarborough on Saturday 17th August.

Howson has also completed shaping his backroom team for the forthcoming season.

We welcome James Mahoney to Emley as First Team Coach. James is a UEFA B licenced coached who has worked in a professional academy for the last 7+ years and will begin his UEFA A Licence in the forthcoming season.

Matt Glennon returns as goalkeeper coach and the partnership with Chris Liversedge and North Light Physiotherapists continues for a second season.

Chris Lawton will be the lead strength and conditioning coach based at Kirklees College throughout preseason and work with players to create individual strength, conditioning and injury prevention plans throughout the 2017/18 season.

John Mason and Joanna Gray (née Dickens) will continue as match day first aiders.

Pre-season training ‪begins on Monday 26th June.‬ Training is strictly by invitation only, however any players interested in joining AFC Emley who are either experienced at NCEL level and above or wish to prove themselves at this level should email their name, age, position and previous playing experience to hows@afcemley.co.uk

The club will not be announcing any player signings until after the registration period opens on July 1st.

In other news, following two difficult seasons, the club has decided not to run a Development Squad side in 2017/18. The position will be reviewed at the end of next season.
