Emley miss out on automatic promotion but have home advantage in play-offs.

AFC Emley will have the home advantage in the NCEL Division One play-offs after Hall Road Rangers and Pontefract Collieries were promoted on the final day of the season this afternoon.

The Pewits will play host to local rivals Penistone Church in a carbon copy of last year's play-off semi-final, where Kieran Ryan's late goal at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground won the game.

Penistone were savaged 6-1 in their final game of the season against Glasshoughton Welfare, who gave Darren Hepworth's side a run for their money last week.

Hallam FC were destined for a third journey of the season to Emley, but a late equaliser in their 1-1 draw with Eccleshill United sends them to Grimsby Borough.

Thus, Penistone will be Emley's opponents in the play-off semi-final - a game which promises to deliver a huge crowd.

We are awaiting confirmation from the NCEL, but the expectation is that the semi-final will take place this Wednesday (26th April) at 7.45pm and the final will follow next Saturday (29th April) at 3.00pm.

The two sides have won a game each in the two regular season meetings this campaign.

Aaron Joseph and Ashley Flynn scored in a breathtaking comeback against Penistone at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground in front of a blockbuster crowd of 418 back in January.

3rd placed Emley will also host the play-off final at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, should they beat Penistone in the semi-final.

4th placed Grimsby Borough and 5th placed Hallam will battle it out in the other Division One play-off fixture at the Bradley Development Centre.

Promoted Hall Road and Pontefract both sealed their passes to the Premier Division this afternoon.

10 man Hall Road held onto a 2-1 lead at Campion, whilst also 10 man Pontefract saw off Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

Everyone from Emley would like to extend our congratulations to both Hall Road and Pontefract on what has been a thrilling race for promotion. We hope to join you in the Premier Division next season.
