Emley AFC are excited to announce that on Saturday 27th November we will be putting the spotlight on a topic we are passionate about as a club, Inclusivity in Football.

There is no change to the date / time of our next home match, we are announcing today that our game against Winterton Rangers, we will be collaborating with our local LGBTQ+ ambassadors Proud Terriers to hold our #rainbowlaces match.

To do this, all members of the Emley AFC Team will be wearing rainbow laces in their football boots and you will see a sprinkle of rainbows around our Fantastic Media Welfare Ground. We have some related content in our match programme including a joint article with Proud Terriers founder, Ryan Mather and our programme editor Andy Wells.

Richard Tracey, First Team Manager, said,"When the club put forward that they would like to hold an event for inclusivity, I was really pleased we could do this and contribute to the #rainbowlaces campaign and be part of TeamPride. Our players including management will be proud to swap out our laces for rainbow ones at the match on 27th November and play our part in raising the importance of allyship for players and supporters within football."

Proud Terriers campaign #FootballForEverybody is where they raise awareness and empowerment to the LGBTQ+ football community and if you hadn’t guessed by the name they are super fans of Huddersfield Town.

Andrew Painten, Emley AFC Chairman, said, "When Ryan from Proud Terriers came along to the Fantastic Media Ground recently to attend a match, he told us how he felt so welcome to bring his whole self to the club. We hope everyone feels like this when they come to support Emley AFC and Emley Academy. By holding the #rainbowlaces campaign event at the end of month it is a small part we can play to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community but also demonstrate that sport is everyone's game."

#RainbowLaces is a UK recognised event powered by charity, Stonewall who support LGBTQ+ people everywhere to thrive and it‘s down to you to be an active ally.

Rainbow Laces Day 2021 will be on Wednesday 8th December, so we are celebrating a few weeks early on how the impact that LGBTQ+ people have on sport.
