It's safe to say that virtually every fan who will visit The Welfare Ground on Monday will never have heard of one team playing.
Sheffield United’s Under 18 team will face the Norwegian team Bærum SK. AFC Emley hosting the fixture as part of the club's continued relationship with the Blades.
Bærum Sportsklubb has a history unfamiliar to United or perhaps anyone in Yorkshire. Founded in 1910, the club resides in the region of Sandvika and have found great success in the sports of ice hockey, bandy and handball.
In football, it's a different story. The club's most noticeable highlights were a one season stay in the First Division in 2002, and two years later a memorable victory in the Norwegian Cup. The team beat Vålengra 2-0, a prominent Norwegian club.
In the modern day, the club plays in a 1,500 capacity stadium in black and yellow. Last season, they achieved promotion to the second division, Adeccoligaen. The most progressive change was a move from their 30 year old home Nadderud Stadion to the Sandvika Stadion.
However, it is the future of Bærum SK that Sheffield United will be playing. The club website describes the youth elite team as having "been through a phase of changes on and off the field." After a recent 1-1 draw, they cited the team as still being "rusty," suggesting that United will face a team in transition.
What is however unclear, is the style of football which Sheffield United will be facing. In Norway, there is no distinct way of playing with clubs choosing to instigate their own style. With Sheffield United in mid season fitness and Bærum "rusty", it will be interesting to see how both teams match up.
Kick off is 6pm on Monday with free entry to all.
