Emley AFC and Skelmanthorpe United JFC announce new link between clubs

Neighbouring football teams Emley and Skelmanthorpe United Juniors have confirmed a linkup between the two clubs.

The number of #EmleyAFCPartner clubs now stands at six - with half from within the local HD8 postcode boundary.

As well as their NCEL Premier Division first team, Emley AFC also have a growing academy with an Under 23 side and a new Under 18s.

Skelmanthorpe United JFC have 7 boys teams in the Huddersfield Junior Football League and 3 girls teams in the West Riding Girls Football League from ages 9 to 16. Over 125 players are registered to play for the club backed by a committed group of 30 coaches and other volunteers.

Emley AFC chairman Andrew Painten said: “Many of our young supporters are already players at Skelmanthorpe and we’re hoping to recruit more of them to cheer on the team - along with their parents and grandparents. We’re very keen to be at the heart of our local community and the various squads at Skelmanthorpe United JFC will all get the chance to have the VIP treatment at future Emley fixtures. We’ll also be keen to support the club in return with their future ambitions.”

Chris Morris, Skelmanthorpe Juniors FC U12's coach said: “This partnership is a great opportunity for SUJFC, providing a potential avenue for our players to progress to after they finish playing junior football. It will also give everyone connected with our club the chance to go and watch our most local non-league team and enjoy their wonderful facilities. We look forward to working closely with Emley AFC and developing closer links in the future.”

As well as Skelmanthorpe United JFC, Emley AFC has now announced links with Yorkshire RTC, Thornes Juniors, Shepley FC, Altofts AFC and the senior teams of Skelmanthorpe AFC. The tie-ups are aimed at providing support for and amongst the partner clubs in whatever areas are required to meet their objectives.
