Grimsby next up!

AFC Emley will welcome Grimsby Borough to the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground on Saturday (3pm) with 3 League points up for grabs on the back of a good 1-0 NCEL League cup win at Campion on Halloween night.
In a game that was played mainly in a downpour, it was Emley who turned in a fine performance in front of 38 hardy souls, who had shunned Halloween and were rewarded with a good, competitive game.
Emley started on the front foot attacking Campion from the off and were almost rewarded with some great crosses, but were unable to make any of them pay.
Shane Hamilton was a constant threat for the Pewits and it was shot that flew narrowly over as Emley showed their intent, With Ben Burnett probing down the left, Hamilton on the right and Andrew Norbury in the middle, the Campion defence were given a hard time but certainly held their own for most part.
Campion then had a quick break out of defence, and looked dangerous, but Adam Ledger saved well at close range.
Emley picked up the pace again and were rewarded with a cracking goal, good work in midfield and a through ball which split the defence was calmly controlled by Burnett, who then ghosted round the keeper and rolled the ball into the net, just rewards for a good start.
Both teams continued to press and probe but with no reward, both defences just about on top for the remainder of the half.
H/T 0-1
As the rain tumbled down in the blackness of a wet Halloween night, Emley, once again started the stronger, a foul on Burnett on the edge of the area, a lovely curled free kick and an equally fine double save by the keeper were the high points, Emley then failed to turn pressure into goals, 3 successive corners were dealt with by the sturdy Campion rearguard.

Campion then turned defence into attack with another quick break, good defending from George Whittaker saw the resulting corner head just inches over the Emley cross bar.
With time running out, Emley looked to seal the win, a great break and shot from Norbury was well saved, and Jordan Townend then tried his luck with a curling shot that just went wide.
Emley spent the remaining minutes on the back foot, but good defending from Mikey Starkey and then Wayne Hughes saw the game out and the Pewits had held on to a hard fought win to put them into the hat for the 4th round.
