1. Visitors' guide

First time at Emley AFC? This page is a summary of key information about the club and its location for fans and visitors - new or old - to help you get the most out of your visit.

If you have any suggestions for further information that should be included here, please contact Andrew Painten.

Who are we?
Emley currently play in the Northern Counties East League Premier Division (NCEL). This is a Step 5 league in the National League System (Step 1 is the National League). A regionalised league, we play teams across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, North Derbyshire and North Nottinghamshire. At the end of the season the champions are promoted to the Northern Premier League and the runners-up can also be promoted through a play-off system with other teams from the same level.

Each season we enter the FA Cup, FA Vase, NCE League Cup and the Sheffield and Hallamshire Senior Challenge Cup.

As well as our first team, we have an Under 23's side in the West Riding County FA Development League. We also have an Under 18s team who enter FA Youth Cup.

Getting here
The Fantastic Media Welfare Ground is our home which we share with the village cricket team.

To find the club, once in Emley, you're looking for the distinct white cross on the T junction of the two main roads in and out of the village. There is a tight entrance directly opposite - any car or 4x4 should get through but mini-buses and bigger vehicles will need to take great care. Coaches are best parking on the main road and everyone walking up the lane on foot. Turn left at the end of this short lane to access the car park. The car park is free.

If the car park is full and/or you end up parking in the village, please be respectful to our neighbours when parking your vehicle.

Tickets and programmes
Tickets are always on sale on the gate. We always accept cash and we are rolling out card/contactless payment and now take cards at the gate and in the bar. Entry fees change slightly depending on the competition (competition rules often dictate a minimum price for each round) but we are always affordable. Standard admission prices for 2021/22 are £6.00, £3.00 concessions, Under 13s are free but must be accompanied by an adult. Concession rate applies to young people aged 13-16, those in full-time education (student ID must be shown) and those at the age to receive a state-pension 60+. The price is the same regardless of whether or wherever you would like to stand or sit.

Programmes cost £1.50 in season 2021/22

Our Academy teams also play their home fixtures at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, mainly on Monday evenings. Entry is only £4 for adults and £2 concessions (Under 13s free with an adult) and is free to club members (except some cup games). Under 18s matches are free.

Around the ground
On entry through the turnstile, the building on your left houses the club office, changing rooms and sports bar. The Sports Bar serves alcohol and soft drinks, crisps and chocolate. There are also male and female toilets (Lads and Wags!). Our range of merchandise, souvenirs and club clothing is on display in the bar - please enquire at the bar to purchase or shop online at our club web shop.

The main stand has toilets to the rear - including disabled. On the far end of the stand, behind the dug-outs, is the Dugout Diner serving hot food and hot or cold drinks.

We are working to make as many areas as possible of the club accessible to wheelchair users. We have a small number of car parking spaces close to the club entrance. If possible, please contact us so we can reserve you a space if required.

We welcome well-behaved dogs to the ground but they must be on a lead at all times. However, no dogs - except assistance dogs - are allowed in the Sports Bar.

More information
You can read all about the history of Emley AFC here. The current club was formed in 2005 from the reserve team of the 'original' Emley AFC, when that club became Wakefield FC.

The club is run a team of volunteers organised by a committee and headed by a President, Chairman, Vice-chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, commercial manager.

We rely on money from entrance fees, memberships (which includes a season ticket), sponsorship, merchandise sales, bar/cafe takings and the small pots of prize money to finance the club.

We are a small club with very little money but what we can do, we try to do well and do "the right way". On the playing side the emphasis is on development of players who want to succeed for OUR club. This vision is underpinned, on and off the pitch, by the values of communication, respect, responsibility and solidarity.

To that end we pride ourselves on being welcoming to all fans - including families - whether supporting Emley or our opponents.
