Doran Jordan, Paul Sykes and Steve Kenworthy all netted first half goals as AFC Emley secured a 3-0 win away at Hall Road Rangers.

Callum Wood reports as Emley extend their unbeaten run to 8 games.

The travelling side came away from Dene Park with all three points, after what was a comfortable victory.

The win moved Emley up a place in the league to 7th whilst Hall Road stayed in 12th following their defeat.

Emley had the win sewn up by halftime and were threatening throughout, whilst their defence held out for their first clean sheet in 10 games.

The game kicked off at a frantic pace, with neither side really able to keep hold of the ball.

The first goal arrived after just 4 minutes, Alex Hallam played Steve Kenworthy in on goal and whilst his effort was parried by the keeper, the rebound fell to Jordan who nodded into an empty net to give Emley an early lead.

Going ahead so early seemed to put the wind in Emley’s sails, they continued to press through the half and continued to carve out chances on the break.

Good work from Jordan down the right wing resulted in Emley being awarded a corner and with it the second goal of the match.

Jordan Townsend’s floated cross found the head of Paul Sykes, who followed up last week’s penalty with his 14th goal of the season.

Another corner shortly after saw Sam Jerome float a header back across goal but a well-positioned Rovers’ defender rose to clear it off the line.

The away side continued to carve out chances against a tired looking Hall Road side as they went in search of more goals.

Steve Kenworthy effectively killed off the contest five minutes before half time with a rather fortuitous goal.

Ranger’s goalkeeper Richard Watson scuffed a clearance straight to the striker in his penalty area, Kenworthy took the gift with aplomb and rounded the offender before passing the ball into the bottom corner to seal the points and give Emley a 3-0 half time lead.

Darren Hepworth gave Sylbert Stewart, Ruben Jerome and Ryan Pleasants second half run outs, but it was far more subdued than the first period.

Keeper Adam Lawlor really earned his clean sheet in the closing stages, making a string of strong saves to maintain Emley’s shut out and earn them a 3-0 win at the final whistle.

Emley go into their game with Teversal on Tuesday with great confidence after a well earn win and safe in the knowledge that they can keep a clean sheet!
