Three goals in 5 minutes seals points for Cleethorpes
If the green shoots of recovery were in evidence in the 2-2 draw with Pontefract, they were quickly stamped out on the road by Cleethorpes Town.
On 14 minutes, Emley took the lead against the run of play. Sam Jerome heading home from the corner.
But the Owls’ equaliser came 90 seconds from the restart. Jonathan Oglesby’s shot was initially saved by Adam Lawlor, but he made no mistake given a second opportunity on the rebound.
That triggered a Cleethorpes onslaught with the hosts bagging three goals in five minutes to virtually seal the points.
Oglesby got his second from a 30 yard free-kick - albeit helped by a deflection on the way through.
When Lee McFarlans won the ball in his own area, he turned defence into attack starting the move with a good run up field. His ball found Oglesby out wide who played in Marc Cooper to round the ‘keeper.
Emley changed formation in the second-half and it looked for a time like the visitors might make a game of it. But, while no further damage was done, no clear cut chances were created and the final score was the same as on 45 minutes.
