AFC Emley quickly bounced back from their wake-up call in midweek.
After a goalless first-half, the match turned Emley’s way on 66 minutes. A penalty was awarded to the visitors following a handball. Captain and man of the match Paul Sykes stepped up and sent the Aquaforce ‘keeper the wrong way to make it 1-0.
Ex-Emley player Ashley Flynn went close to an equaliser but it was 2-0 just 5 minutes later.
Liam Schofield took a corner from the Emley right. Evading all and sundry in the box, it hit the back of the net without another touch.
Schofield went closest to extending the lead with a free kick over the bar, but it finished 2-0 with manager Darren Hepworth praising the all round team performance calling his players ‘outstanding’
