Emley recorded a good solid 3-0 away win at Rossington to propel them back up the table to 5th place.

Coming off the back of a victory over Clipstone in midweek Emley went into the game with renewed confidence.

Leading scorer Ash Flynn almost gave Emley a dream start finding space down the left hand side but his rising shot went just over the bar. Whilst Emley started well Rossington found their feet and started to create chances of their own but the visitors defence held firm.

Flynn notched his 10th goal of the season, and 6th in 5 consecutive games on 39 minutes. It was a well worked team goal started in midfield by Anthony Haigh who found Levi Maturine with an excellent ball, Maturine drew the Rossington ‘keeper before squaring to Flynn who slotted into an empty net.

Rossington started the second half with a sense of purpose but again Emley impressed with Josh Ingham and Aaron Joseph dominant in midfield.

Maturine headed home a deep corner from Curtis Roberts in the 57th minute to put Emley firmly in the driving seat. From this point they were firmly in control and the introduction of Doran Jordan and Steven Kenworthy from the bench only served to strengthen the attack.

Kenworthy went close not long after coming on and had the ball in the net soon after but was ruled offside before Haigh finally wrapped the game up with the final goal of the game on 73 minutes.

Haigh had a quiet game by his normal high standards but there was quality written all over his goal. Picking the ball up 25 yards out he tied his marker in knots before pulling the ball back onto his left foot and smashed the ball home to record his 8th of the season.

Emley:
Herriot, Schofield, Leech, Ingham, Cyrus, Banton, Joseph, Haigh, Flynn (Kenworthy), Maturine (Thornton), Roberts (Jordan). Sub (not used): Hazelden.

The result rounded off a fine week for the club which had seen the Development Squad defeat league leaders Wakefield City 6-3 courtesy of goals from Jack Portman (3), Ashley Ellis, Jonny Irving and Danny Lyness.
