Wonder strike seals points

AFC Emley put an end to a 3 match losing run with a 2-1 win over Parkgate in an entertaining game at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground.
Emley started the brighter of the two teams as the drizzle came and went, a cross by Paul Pyke flashed across the box, but there was no one there to back it up and it went harmlessly out of play, 2 minutes later a Shane Hamilton shot was saved by the Parkgate keeper.
Parkgate then had their best chance when Adam ledger came off his line to thwart a dangerous looking run.
Hamilton was again in the right place, when he met a right wing cross only to see his header caught by the keeper, Emley were doing most of the attacking, especially down their right hand side where Pyke and Daniel Naidole were causing all sorts of problems, but it was Parkgate who had the next best chance, luckily, Ledger was off his line again to deny the Parkgate striker.
Michael Starkey fired a free kick straight at the keeper as Emley kept up the pressure, then just after the half hour mark, Emley spurned a brilliant chance to take the lead, a great ball by Michael Tunnacliffe split the defence wide open, but unfortunately Josh Ingham couldn't get his connection right and fired wide, as half time approached,Tunnacliffe had a go from distance, but his shot fell just wide, so a scoreless first half but no lack of chances.
Half time: 0-0

The second half, like the first, started off with drizzle and a slippy ball, but it was the visitors who got off to the better start, a cross caused problems but was saved by Ledger, the rebound was kept out and the 3rd effort was, thankfully, for Emley put wide.
Both teams had good passages of play without really threatening either keeper, then Emley sprang into life again, great work in midfield, saw the ball played out wide to Paul Pyke, who tormented the Parkgate defenders, before playing a great ball for Daniel Naidole to run onto, it looked as though the defender had made a good tackle, but the ball deflected back into Naidole's path, who gratefully prodded the ball home to the relief of the majority of the 123 crowd.
They would be applauding again just 3 minutes later as Emley doubled their lead with a fantastic strike, a scrambled defensive clearance fell to Ben Burnett, who curled an unstoppable shot with the outside of the boot past the helpless Parkgate keeper, it was a goal worthy of winning any game!
Emley had the ball in the net again, but Naidole was judged offside, instead of being 3 down, Parkgate came back into it, a great save by Ledger ended up in a shot smacking the crossbar and bouncing back enabling Emley to clear, but it was only a short respite, as on their next attack, what appeared to be a deflected shot, beat Ledger and the Rotherham based side had a lifeline, thankfully, Emley's defence held firm for the remaining few minutes to secure a vital win and the first 3 points at home this season.
