Emley and Selby entertain big crowd.

AFC Emley and Selby Town shared the spoils in a pulsating 4-4 thriller at the Fantastic Media Welfare ground.
In a game watched by a tremendous crowd of 233, Emley and Selby went at it like two boxers in a no holds barred contest., although both teams rode their luck at times, but also played some cracking football too.
The bar had barely emptied when Emley took the lead after only 2 minutes, Ruben Jerome finishing off for his 2nd goal in 2 games, the early goal stunned the crowd, and there was even more reasons for the Emley fans to be happy just a minute or so later, a ball flashed into the box was turned home by Selby's right back and Emley were 2-0 up after less than 5 minutes on the clock.
Despite the setback, Selby, to their credit continued to play and attack Emley's backline, and were back in the game with a bizarre goal on 9 minutes, the linesman put his flag up for offside, but was ignored by the referee, who then told the linesman to put his flag down and allowed play to carry on, seconds later, Selby's danger man Cable had reduced the deficit to 2-1, 3 goals in 9 crazy minutes!
Both teams continued to push the other back and both were committed in the tackle, both 'keepers were called upon to make important stops, Emley found some joy down Selby's right and it was from here that they retook their 2 goal lead, a cross-shot from Adam Williams drifted over the 'keeper who was stranded at his far post and could only stand and watch as the ball nestled in the net, whether Williams meant it or not, only he will know!
3-1 to Emley now, and still the chances came and went for both sides, a great shot from Selby from 25 yards was inches over and then another close range shot was fired wide to the relief of the home fans.
As half time approached, Emley would, unbelievably, go in 4-1 up, thanks to another own goal, this time from Selby's centre back.
Half time: 4-1.
The second half started with an Emley attack but a good save from Selby's 'keeper this time kept the ball out, Selby started to play good football and cause Emley some problems now, and were rewarded on 49 minutes, when that man Cable, bagged his 2nd after good work down the right wing, Nervy times for Emley.
Those nerves were frayed even more 4 minutes later as Selby scored again, 4-3 now, and Emley were on the back foot, eventually they did get themselves back into it, but again, failed to take some good chances that came their way, Ruben Jerome causing them all sorts of problems at the back, but Emley just couldn't find that next goal.
Instead it was Selby who got the 8th goal of the night, and what a cracker it was too, hammered home from outside the area, Adam Ledger in the Emley goals had no chance of stopping it, the Selby fans were in raptures, the Emley fans in disbelief.
By now, both teams were giving it everything to try and find a winner, Emley came the closest on a couple of occasions but again, chances fell by the wayside, then with a minute or so remaining, the Selby fans were celebrating what they thought was a winning goal, only to be disappointed, ironically for an offside.
And so the game finished 4-4 , but could have quite easily been 8-8! both teams went off to applause from both sets of fans, a great game and fantastic entertainment at the Fantastic Media Welfare ground.
