It was all Selby early on, with Joe Dale having the first chance of the game six minutes in, only to be denied by Emley keeper, George Clarke. However, the visitors were ahead a minute later, when Dale’s original shot was saved, and Ryan Woodhead tapped in the rebound.

Emley had a great chance minutes later, however nobody could get on the end up a whipped in free kick. Selby almost scored again moments later, however a last ditch defensive tackle cleared the danger for Emley. The home side’s defense was pressured again in the 25th minute, with man of the match Mikey Starks coming up with two vital blocks, and winning a free kick to clear the danger.

Selby added a second goal seven minutes later, when Liam Flanagan slotted home from a long free kick. Flanagan struck again minutes later, finding himself in acres of space, before dribbling round the oncoming Clarke and tapping home. Emley pressured before the half, with a shot from Gregg Porter going just over.

It was a dreadful start to the second half for Emley, with Selby adding a fourth goal with less than a minute gone, when Woodhead chipped the ball over Clarke, scoring his second of the game. Emley made a double substitution in the 56th minute, with Alex Slack and Finn Donavon replacing Tabby Magida and Lewis Dickinson.

Fresh legs seemed to help Emley as they forced multiple great saves and tackles from Selby. Minutes later James Stafford headed just wide, with perhaps Emley’s best chance of the game. Emley kept the pressure on and looked dangerous on the counter, however couldn’t produce an end product.
