Emley comeback on wild night

In a wet and windy contest at the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground, it was Emley who threatened first when Adam Wilson’s second minute shot warmed the hands of Ollerton 'keeper Ryan Brooks. Ollerton went close to opening the scoring in the 18th minute, when Ash Shannan’s shot was saved by Max Dearnley.

The torrential weather limited both sides to very few clear cut chances, but it was the visitors who took theirs to score first, when Gav King hit home just before half time, giving Ollerton the lead going into the break.

Emley started the second half strongly, and equalised 7 minutes later, when Alex Slack hit home when the ball fell to him kindly from a corner. The home side took the lead 11 minutes later when striker Lewis Dickson scored a screamer from distance, his 13th goal of the season.

Emley continued applying pressure with goal scorer Alex Slack forcing a great save from Ollerton’s Ryan Brooks. Substitute Jonny Bullivant had a good chance to put the game to bed, but dragged his shot just wide of the goal.

Ollerton pushed for an equalizer, and their efforts almost paid off when a goal bound shot found its way over Dearnley and was headed clear off the line by Hepworth Group Man of the Match Tabby Magida, much to the relief of the home crowd in attendance.

Emley managed to defend against late pressure from Ollerton and hold on for a well deserved and hard fought 2-1 victory in horrible conditions. Emley will look to keep the momentum rolling when they travel to top of the table Knaresborough Town for their next game.
