Two goals from Ashley Flynn and an Alex Hallam strike see off Yorkshire Amateur FC.

AFC Emley followed up their record 13-0 win on Saturday with a 3-1 victory at Yorkshire Amateur FC.

Ashley Flynn’s double added to Alex Hallam’s goal for the away side, who went behind to a Thomas Rose goal in the first half.

Emley caused some problems down both flanks in the early exchanges of the game, with Yorkshire Amateur goalkeeper Suruwa Bojang’s handling being tested.

Both sides had free kicks saved, with Emley keeper Adam Lawlor comfortably holding onto Harrison Blakey’s effort, and Bojang saving Michael Tunnacliffe’s strike.

The home side took the lead when Craig Heard was put through on goal, rounded the goalkeeper and the ball was on a plate for Rose to tuck home into the empty net to give Amateur a 1-0 lead.

However the advantage was short lived, as Emley equalized almost immediately. They continued attacking down both the left and right hand sides, and eventually found some joy down the right when Ruben Jerome’s trickery brought him some space to have a shot, which was blocked but fell nicely for Alex Hallam, who slotted home into the bottom corner to level things.

Blakey failed to trouble Lawlor in the Emley goal as his attempt to give the Leeds-based side the lead once again sailed harmlessly over the crossbar.

Instead it was Emley who would take the lead, and it was Robbie Graham’s turn to cause havoc down the right, producing a pin-point cross that Flynn headed home with aplomb, leaving Bojang unmoved.

Flynn started the second half with an audacious attempt at lobbing Bojang, finding the roof of the net. Jordan Coduri also saw an effort go over the bar after Ruben Jerome’s strike was blocked.

Emley did increase their lead not long later, as Bojang’s short goal kick left his defender in all sorts of trouble, and Flynn was able to capitalize, seizing the ball and keeping his composure to find the bottom corner of the net to make it 3-1.

It could have been 4-1 when Emley broke on the counter, Flynn finding Kieran Ryan and his powerful effort stung the palms of Bojang, who did well to turn it over the bar.

Heard had some chances to get Yorkshire Amateur back into the game, with Lawlor saving well from his downward header, before he also fired over from the edge of the area a few moments later.

Carl Heard then shot wide as they kept pushing, before Lawlor pulled off a great double stop to deny Craig Heard and Harrison Blakey in the closing stages.

The win puts Emley onto 30 points from 17 games, five points ahead of their opponents, and the victory means Emley have lost just one of their least eight in the league.
