Spoils are shared in the derby on Emley's day of celebration.

Emley's final home league game of the campaign ended with a 2-2 draw with local rivals Golcar but more importantly, it ended with the NCEL Premier Division trophy finally getting into Emley's hands a week after their confirmation as champions.

It was a day of celebration and a party atmosphere for the vast majority of the 630 who welcomed the newly crowned champions onto the pitch following a guard of honour from their rivals across town.

And they were treated to an entertaining game on a dry, sunny, but windy day as both sides struggled to combat the wind whipping across the hill.

It was the wind that created the first chance of the game when a Metcalfe free kick almost swirled into the top corner, following that Charlie Barks saw a speculative overheard kick clear the bar.

Golcar got a foothold in the game though and ex Emley striker George Doyle was causing some problems and his ball in behind the defence saw a shot on target which Lambton was able to save comfortably.

Down at the other end, Jerome put a header wide but neither side was really creating much, then on the half hour mark, Golcar launched an attack, Emley thought they had dealt with the danger but the Golcar man tumbled and was awarded a penalty, up stepped Doyle to smash past Lambton for the lead.

The Weavers almost doubled their lead 5 minutes later but thankfully Lambton was on hand to push the shot away, it was to be a busy few minutes for Dec as he was then forced into a brilliant save with his feet as Golcar enjoyed a purple patch.

Emley had another free kick that was blown goalwards but this time it didn't threaten the visitors' goal and drifted wide, the wind was causing real problems, summed up by a Metcalfe shot that almost blew back over his head.

Emley thought they had restored parity shortly before half time, Jerome did brilliantly to keep the ball in and he played a lovely ball into the area, Golcar keeper Stead fumbled it, Gooden bundled it in but as is often the case with these, the ref had blown for a foul on the keeper.

And right on half time, the champions came close again to equalising but Jerome's header was saved by the keeper and Emley trailed at the break.

H/T- EMLEY 0-1 GOLCAR.

If the Emley faithful were disappointed in the first half, the second half couldn't have got off to a better start, within a minute, the Pewits were level, good work down the left saw Jerome deliver into the danger zone, Golcar couldn't clear and James Walshaw was on hand to smash home in front of a delighted shed.

However, parity would last only a couple of minutes as Golcar restored their lead with their first attack of the half, the ball was played down Emley's right and the cross was good enough for Doyle to notch his second against his former club to the delight of Golcar's small band of supporters.

Golcar were happy to sit on their lead and invite Emley to try and break them down, with the wind once again swirling all around it made playing balls difficult but both teams did their best, Emley had a penalty shout turned down as Walshaw took a tumble before Clegg , Baldwin and Walker were introduced for Haigh , Hardaker and Walshaw respectively.

It wouldn't take long after for the champions to show their prowess as they once again found an equaliser, Metcalfe did brilliantly on the left, driving into the area and playing a ball into the area, Golcar, again unable to deal with it and as Jerome went down under a heavy challenge, Iyrwah Gooden smashed the loose ball into the net.

Lambton was in action again at the Warburton end when he had to save from a dangerous curling shot, Pashley was on hand to clear the danger a second time Kenny was then replaced by Curtis after a typical non stop energetic performance in midfield.

Emley thought they had fashioned a winner late on, a great ball found Gooden who beat the cover, and flashed a shot past the post, they had a great chance to then snatch all 3 points but the league's top scorer Jerome lifted a chip just wide as the keeper was beaten.

As Emley counted down the seconds until they could really celebrate, it was Golcar who had the final say, creating a great chance in the final minute a good shot looked to cause Lambton problems, but the Emley stopper was down to save.

It was then a case of seeing the game out as both teams would be happy with a point, and Emley's home league season was over, but not before the NCEL Premier Division trophy was lifted, the Emley celebrations could begin and would carry on well into the night.

The season isn't quite over yet though, a trip to Pickering Town on Tuesday is the final act for the champions, who then resume their quest for a league and cup double as Bottesford Town are the visitors in the league cup quarter final.

Today though, was about Emley and the celebrations.
