Emley Return To Winning Ways With Comfortable Win

AFC Emley return to the top of the NCEL Division One, at least until Saturday, thanks to a comfortable 4-0 win at home over Winterton Rangers.
With Pontefract Collieries not in action during midweek, Emley capitalised through braces from Doran Jordan and Ashley Flynn, with both scoring a goal in each half.
Jordan opened the scoring for Emley within the first ten minutes, rolling into an empty net, whilst Flynn scored a close range header.
Jordan got his second of the game through a superb strike from the edge of the area and Flynn rounded off the scoring with a thumping effort from inside the area.
Emley made a good start to the game with Jordan finding the net early on. Steven Kenworthy received the ball midway in the Winterton half and found the run of Jordan with a pass on the turn. Jordan then took the ball around Danny Waring in the Winterton goal and rolled the ball into an empty net.
Flynn doubled the lead not long after when he nodded in an Adam Podmore cross after the wideman had got past his man.
Emley only had a few more chances in the first half, with Michael Tunnacliffe striking a free kick straight at Waring, whilst Flynn fired wide from within the area.
Winterton also had their chances with Tom Dungworth seeing a tame effort saved by Adam Lawlor, whilst Lawlor was on hand again, this time to deny Daniel Varley, after the striker had found himself through on goal.
The second half was a similar story to the first, with Emley having a few chances not capitalised on, whilst Winterton were well marshalled by Sam Jerome and Paul Sykes.
Jordan did get his second however midway through the second half, with the winger firing an effort in from outside the area that went beyond the grasp of Waring.
Flynn had a good chance to get his second, however he could only hit Waring with his effort.
The striker did bag his second just before full time. Max Leonard burst down the right flank and surged into the penalty area before finding the feet of Flynn, who riffled his effort into the roof of the net.
The result leaves Emley top of the league, however, with the teams fighting out for the promotion places still having games in hand, it is all still to play for.
