AFC Emley started the season with a bag as they hit 8 past hosts Grimsby Borough.

Max Leonard hit three goals to cap a man of the match performance. Doran Jordan's 30 yard effort into the top corner was the cream of crop while Sam Jerome, Ruben Jerome and Michael Tunnacliffe also got on the score sheet. Nathan Perks also hit a goal on his competitive debut after coming on as a second-half substitute.

Seconds after coming on, Alex Hallam limped off with an injury to his ankle following an innocuous challenge

The Grimsby consolation goal was from a direct free-kick awarded after Ryan Brook was harshly adjudge to have handled.

While pleased with the result and performance, Darren Hepworth was quick to warn his squad of the sterner test they will face in next week's two home games; firstly against Bottesford Town on Tuesday night (kick off 7.45pm) and in the FA Cup on Sunday at 3pm against Ashton Athletic.
